Replace Window Motor[edit]

  • Remove the door panel retaining screws with a Phillips screwdriver.
  • Slip the end of a standard screwdriver behind the door speaker cover and pry it away from the door. This step is only required for models equipped with door speakers.
  • Position a putty knife between the door panel and the door. Pry the panel away from the door to dislodge the retaining clips on the inside of the door panel. Pull the panel away from the door, disconnect any electrical connectors by hand and remove the panel from the interior.
  • Pull the plastic water shield away from the door.
  • Remove the bolt holding the window run channel in place with a socket wrench. This bolt is located directly to the left of the largest access hole on the door.
  • Use a socket wrench to remove the bolts holding the window glass to the lift plate of the window regulator. You may need to raise or lower the window in order to reach the bolts through the access holes.
  • Lift the glass out of the door and through the window opening. Tape the window to the top of the door frame.
  • Remove the six bolts holding the window motor assembly to the door with a socket wrench. Guide the motor assembly through the access hole.
  • Slip the replacement window motor assembly through the access hole. Use a socket wrench to install the six bolts holding the motor assembly to the door.
  • Remove the tape holding the window glass to the door frame. Gently lower the window glass into the door, resting it on the window motor lift plate. Install the two bolts holding the glass to the lift plate, using a socket wrench.
  • Install the bolt holding the window run channel in place with a socket wrench. This bolt is located directly to the left of the largest access hole on the door.
  • Push the plastic water shield onto the door.
  • Hold the door panel near the door and attach the electrical connectors to the rear of the door panel. Push the door panel against the door, engaging the retaining clips on the rear of the panel. Engage all of the clips around the edges of the panel.
  • Push the door speaker cover over the speaker if removed previously.
